Awillo, Dynamos cross swords over unpaid monies

Namibian international Awillo Stephanus and his former Zambian Super League club Lusaka Dynamos are at loggerheads over unpaid monies owed to the 30-year-old industrious
midfielder.

Stephanus, who joined Dynamos in the 2019 season, is reportedly owed about US$80,000 (almost N$1.3 million at the current exchange rate) in unpaid wages and other related fees by the club, and has since approached world football governing body Fifa for assistance.

The skillful midfielder yesterday confirmed to New Era Sport that the issue is still pending as the club has not been forthcoming with regards to the payments.

Fifa has since intervened in the ongoing saga, and recently ordered Dynamos to settle in full the outstanding dues within 45 days (now less), or else risk being banned from registering new players for three full seasons.

Efforts by this publication to get comment from one of the club officials, Meeth Naik, proved futile as he did not respond to questions send to him at the time of going to print.

Just last month, this Zambian club was also reportedly at loggerheads with Malawian international Dalitso Sailesi over outstanding money owed to the
Malawian.

Sailesi reported the matter to Fifa and the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), who both ordered Dynamos to pay the Malawian winger millions for breach of contract after he had gone a couple of months without pay.
