Baby head found in dog’s mouth

A newborn baby became the latest in the growing number of children being abandoned, emanating from unwanted pregnancies.

A passer-by forced a dog to drop the head of a baby after he pelted the animal with stones, since he wanted to identify what exactly it was.

According to Omusati police spokesperson Anna Kunga, the incident happened at the Ombandhiya village in the Otsandi area last Friday.

It is alleged the police searched for the rest of the body but did not find anything.

The police are appealing to members of the public who know any woman who was expecting a baby and is no longer pregnant to come forth with authentic information that will lead to her arrest.

In a separate incident, Shaanika Efraim Shikongo from Okakundu village in the Tsandi constituency was found dead by his girlfriend in her room.

According to Kunga, it is reported Shikongo, who is the boyfriend of a bartender at the Sports Entertainment bar, arrived at the location on Sunday at about 20h00 and requested the key to the sleeping room from his girlfriend.

He then went to sleep in her room.

It is alleged the girlfriend closed the bar at about 23h00 and went to her room, where she found her boyfriend sleeping on the bed in a pool of blood.

It is further alleged the suspect used a panga to cut Shikongo on the left side of his neck and chin – and he sustained an open wound, and he died at the scene.

The suspect also went with the victim’s cell phone.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was murdered by the ex-boyfriend of the bartender.

The suspect was found with Shikongo’s cell phone at Olyasiti village, still in the Tsandi constituency.

The suspect, a 33-year-old from Okondaunwe village, in the Kunene region, was also a domestic worker at Iikokola village.

He was arrested.
