Dispatched thoughts - Good Health

What would you trade to get in shape and have great health?
What is your health worth to you?
These are some of the questions that I have been living with these past few days. I would like to think my own health is good, maybe even great. I feel good about myself.

But as I get older and become stronger, I start to notice that those that have been strong for me for all my life seem to be not so young and strong anymore. The more time I spend with my parents, the more I realize how important it is to be healthy, the more I realize that being healthy is a choice.

It might seem like it’s nothing, but what you do to your body matters more than we actually realize. While we are young and able, we mostly neglect our health and pay no attention to what exactly we do to our bodies, our bodies that are supposed to carry us for the rest of our lives.
Good health comes at a price, not as expensive as we might think, but at a price nonetheless. That price as I have learned from my folks is time and effort, time to look after yourself, time to exercise, even time to rest and more importantly the effort to see through that you make use of the time that you have.

We take it for granted but like time, our health and bodies are borrowed too; a time will come when the body can no longer take care of you, even when you make time and an effort to exercise or nourish it. When that time comes maybe then will we realize how important it was to keep healthy and maintain good health.

You owe it to yourself to look after your health, there is no fun in being unhealthy or gambling with your life. Unfortunately, good health can’t be bought, you will have to sweat it out and be disciplined about it, there is no quick fix or over-the-counter solutions – good old-fashioned hard work will always be best.
In all seriousness, health will always be a vital pillar of life, a gift that some are blessed with more than others, it will always be better to have good health over a long period of time than try and get it in one day. Take care of yourselves.
