Dj Stiga opens DJ school

House DJ Stanley Shinganda, popularly known as DJ Stiga, is opening a DJ school for those who want to study the art of making people move on the dance floor.

Stepping out of his comfort zone and following in the footsteps of DJ Zinhle from South Africa, the House Family DJ School will offer aspiring disc jockeys a chance to learn how to beat match, mixing techniques and digital setup – just to mention a few.
He told Entertainment Now! he was always asked to help out those who wanted to learn the tricks on the decks.
“In the past, I have had a lot of individuals ask me to teach them how to DJ, so I have finally opened a school that will provide lessons on a basic and intermediate level in this regard.”

The school will aim to provide training, mentoring and tutoring to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Stiga’s love to become a DJ was inspired by his older brother, who was a radio DJ back in the days, which eventually rubbed on him. As the pandemic has severely hit the entertainment industry, this will be the DJ’s last act in terms of ploughing back to the community before leaving the country.

“I am relocating to South Africa to pursue my dream further. There, I plan to eventually get into production and release my album, which is long overdue,” he explained.
In addition to his relocation, he strongly believes Djs in the country will reach South Africa’s status once fellow Namibians recognise the work local DJs put in.

Stiga hopes for the best as the year unfolds in terms of the current crisis the world is facing.
“With our current global pandemic, if all goes well, I plan to release my album in December – with a date to be finalised. It’s been very challenging with all these restrictions, but this is now the new norm – and I’m adjusting while still adhering to the laws.”
The House Family DJ School will offer courses for beginners for three months at N$1 000 per month and two months for Advanced students for N$700 per month.
Registration will start on 22 February in Dorado Park. Check out their social media platforms for more information. - slunyangwe@nepc.com.na
