Father, son held for murder

A father and son have been charged with murder, obstructing the course of justice as well as violating a dead body in the south.
This follows the death of 47-year-old Jacobus Muisoor, whose lifeless body was discovered on 21 December last year on the Grünau road.
According to acting //Kharas crime investigations coordinator Chief Inspector Theodore Kotungondo, Jan Thirion (82) and his son Gideon (52) were arrested in connection with the murder and were refused bail.

“Initially, we suspected he has been bumped by a vehicle, but the following autopsy report clearly indicated he has been fatally shot and dropped on the road to conceal evidence,’’ Kotungondo explained, adding police investigations into the matter were continuing.
A number of serious crimes, including rape, armed robbery, dealing in drugs and stock theft were also reported during last month to the //Kharas police.

On Christmas day, a 34-year-old man Johannes Classen allegedly stabbed his girlfriend Ridensia Lamberth (28) with a knife in Keetmanshoop’s Tseiblaagte.
“The accused also inflicted open cutting wounds on the deceased’s 11-month-old baby girl and was subsequently refused bail during his first court appearance,’’ Kotungondo added.

In another unrelated incident at Köes, a 36-year-old woman Johanna Abrahams succumbed to stab wounds inflicted on her chest area allegedly by her boyfriend Laurentius Christiaan (36).  According to the police, the accused also inflicted stabbing wounds on another man, Hendrick Plaatjie, who tried to defuse the quarrel between the couple.
Christiaan has been arraigned before court on charges of murder read in conjunction with the Domestic Violence Act and furthermore refused bail.

A number of crime incidents were also reported to the authorities, including two under-aged victims, who were reportedly raped at  Köes and Tses on 19 December 2020 and 5 January 2021, respectively.
A man, whose age is unknown, was arrested in connection with the rape at Köes, while a 38-year-old man is being held for the alleged rape at Tses after luring a 12-year-old girl to his house.

“The suspect sent the victim’s 13-year-old female friend away from a bar, where the girls were supposed to collect beers for a well-known woman at the village after which he raped the victim,’’ said Kotungondo.
