Halloween comes to Windhoek

Get your make-up and costumes ready as we prepare for Halloween - the night when the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred.

Observed in several countries on 31 October each year, Windhoekers will get a chance to celebrate the pagan festival by dressing up in scary costumes, or simply just all black for the first-ever Insomnia Party happening on 4 November at the Independence Museum restaurant.

Anticipated to be a night of both glamour, ‘horror’ and obviously no sleep, the Insomnia Party presents yet another opportunity to express yourself through creative outfits invented by Namibia’s fashion designers, with their face beats created by local make-up gurus.

“The theme is ‘Mystery’; that’s why we decided to make the artist lineup mysterious as well. It’s a spooky event after all,” said project manager Nicolas Ponde.

“Judging from the outcome of this event, we will try and make it an annual occasion for the country,” added an excited Ponde.

Although the music performers are a mystery, what is known is the DJs who will be behind the decks. They are DJ Walker, DJ Cmbaville and DJ Flow.

The red carpet will be laid out for guests as they make their way to the venue through all the flashing camera lights from all directions.

The event starts at 19h30 till late, so make sure to get enough sleep throughout the day as you will need it.
