LÜDERITZ - Different BnBs, restaurants and hotels here are ready up for the festive season with decanted menus reminding residents and visitors alike of the beauty of the town’s deliciously well-prepared meals. Hear it from the horses’ mouths – as some restaurant and hotel owners share what they are offering this festive season.

“Our customers are the reason for our business; therefore, we offer them a homely feeling away from home, focussing on very friendly and special service from well-trained waitresses. Our waitresses are handpicked due their natural friendly personalities. We also offer our customers a menu with a lot of choices, and assist the tourists as far as we can with any information,” says Essenzeit Restaurant’s Wilhelm Steenkamp.
Having reviewed their menu since December 3 for the festive season, the restaurant is running a “pop-a-balloon” special near to Christmas and on New Year’s Eve – December 31 to January 1. Patrons can win different prices in terms of discount on meals, win a champagne bottle, get free desert or drink, etc. “We live our principles to serve our Holy Father; thus, [we will] be closed over Christmas: 23, 24, 25 December, but open from December 26”.

Bruno De Comarmond, marketing manager at Lüderitz Nest Hotel, says they have prepared specials for the 2018 festive season. He adds that the Lüderitz Nest Hotel, Namibia’s top four-star hotel (2016 HAN award winner) is pleased to offer guests, visitors, and tourists a fantastic package at reduced rates: the best Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners, and Christmas Day lunch menus to make their 2018 festive season the best ever.

All the modern spacious air-conditioned rooms offer the best direct sea-views in Namibia. Additionally, the hotel is the only establishment in Namibia with its own private tidal beach and walk-on jetty, perfect to fully enjoy the beautiful maritime environment surrounding the hotel. Further, leisure facilities include an adventure playground and sea-facing sauna. The hotel’s locally popular Penguin Restaurant and Crayfish Lounge are the best quality social venues in Lüderitz. “Management and staff look forward to welcoming you with their famous Buchter hospitality,” says Bruno.

Haus Henry’s accommodation manager, Anneline Meitjies, is happy to welcome all guests to their fine establishment to make this their home away from home. “Our beautiful town is rich in history, offering visitors a look at where we come from. From Kolmanskop to Diaz Point – to Shark Island, take a trip down memory lane with us. We hope our quest leave here feeling welcomed, happy and relaxed,” invites Meintjies.
Nestor Sheimi, a resident of Oranjemund, says it has become a culture that the festive season creates opportunities to unite with brothers, sisters, friends and parents. “I am personally leaving for the village to go spent time with my family, and to work, since December is the starting of the rainy season. I will also be attending family weddings,” Sheimi explained.
