RUNDU – A 70-year-old pensioner committed suicide by hanging herself with a wire at Satotwa on the western
outskirts of Rundu. The incident happened on Friday afternoon at around 15h30. According to the police, she
committed suicide in her sleeping hut and left no suicide note.

In a separate incident, a case of rape was opened at the Rundu police station after a 17-year-old girl was defiled by an unknown male who snuck into her room and allegedly raped the defenceless teenager.
The rapist is unknown as he fled the scene. The unpleasant incident happened on Friday night at Tuhingireni informal
settlement in Rundu.

“It is alleged that an unknown suspect entered a 17-year-old Namibian female victim’s room, while she was asleep and
under the influence of alcohol and had sexual intercourse with her without consent. The suspect is unknown. No
arrest has been made yet,” said the police report.
