Police chief Sebastian Ndeitunga joined an operation this past weekend in Rehoboth and Windhoek, and reiterated the police’s position towards the fight against drugs, saying, “We will keep fighting against drugs”.
Drug-related incidents dominated the weekend police crime report, as multiple drugs were seized by police this weekend.
Ndeitunga was part of a patrol that seized parcels of dagga found at a house in Rehoboth Saturday evening. Police found drugs at three houses in the town during the operation and arrested three men.
The value of the drugs was not measured at the time of going to print.
On Friday, at around 09h10 at Omakange Iitananga roadblock in the Omusati region. A 29-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of cannabis. It is alleged the suspect was travelling in a red Toyota Wish seven-seater from Ondangwa to Kamanjab – and upon arrival at the checkpoint, police searched and found a backpack that contained cannabis in the vehicle.
The weight and value of cannabis are still to be determined. The suspect is charged and will appear in court on Monday.
In Windhoek’s Khomasdal neighbourhood on Friday 23 July 2021 at about 10H00, an 18-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of five doses of Cocaine Powder and one unit of crack cocaine, valued at N$2 600. He is detained at the Katutura Police Station.
On Saturday, at about 12h36 in Lukas Stephanus section of Gibeon, a 46-year-old woman was arrested after she was found with 12 full mandrax tablets, one-half mandrax tablet and two-quarters of mandrax tablets, valued at N$1 560 during a police search.
Also on Friday night, at around 21h35 at Asab, five suspects, aged between 24 and 49 years, were arrested during a police search, which led to the discovery of 54 ballies dagga, wrapped in a newspaper and two-and-a-half mandrax tablets. The value is still to be determined.
Meanwhile, on Saturday at around 16h00 at the Khorixas, Kamanjab and Outjo crossing road, a 41-year-old male was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of cannabis at the roadblock.
According to the crime report, a police search revealed one full arm of cannabis of an undetermined value.
The suspect is expected to appear in Outjo Magistrate’s Court today. On Saturday, at Narraville Shell Service Station in Walvis Bay at 18h30, police arrested a 23-year-old male for allegedly dealing in cannabis, alternatively for possession of cannabis.
It is reported that one big ballie of cannabis, weighing 32 grams, valued at N$1 600, was allegedly ordered from the accused to be delivered to the service station.
Another drug-related incident was reported in Walvis Bay on Saturday at about 20h00 at a housing complex in the town. Police arrested a 21-year-old man after a search found one big ballie of cannabis with a mass of 15 grams at a value of N$750.
In the early hours of Sunday, around 01h30 in Walvis Bay, two men, aged 22 and 24, were arrested during a police search.
Police allegedly discovered loose cannabis of 1 585 grams and four capsules of Ecstasy, valued at N$80 250.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Saturday at about 21h30 at Erongo Red Station, Kuisebmond in Walvis Bay. According to the crime report, five big bankies of dagga were allegedly ordered from him to be delivered to a specific address.
In total, 18 big bankies of Cannabis, measuring at 1980 grams and estimated to be a value of N$99 000, are said to have been found at the accused person’s house.
