The MTC Windhoek Fashion week has not only become a highly-anticipated fashion spectacle in the country, but continuously usher in a crop of new faces on the runways.

After hosting two castings, the team recently announced that they have selected another diverse group of models, with the majority of them being new faces in the industry.

MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MWFW) plays a pivotal role in the fashion industry and for seven consecutive years now, has successfully provided a platform for designers to showcase and market their brands, whether for women, men or children, while also offering a stage for hairdressers, make-up artists, jewellery designers and shoe designers to exhibit their prowess.

This year, the focused theme is ‘Sustainably Namibian’ and is slated for 1-5 November at Maerua Mall.

MWFW director Kalistu Mukoroli said the first casting attracted about 500 models from all corners of the country who attended the physical audition, and also virtual castings, which enticed about 70 models, including international models.

“The second round of casting was done for those models who received a call-back and got a second chance at casting for MTC Windhoek Fashion Week,” he told VIBEZ!

In the end, 50 female and 30 male models were selected to strut the runway come November.

According to Mukoroli, models of all sizes were selected.

“MTC Windhoek Fashion Week advocates for equal representation and we do not label any person who is part of the event,” he added.

The event has over the years grown to become a leading exhibition of fashion, setting fashion trends and strengthening the country’s position as a hub of fashion innovation.

Mukoroli called on everyone to engage with them on social media at MTC Windhoek Fashion Week.
