A tree’s strength is measured by the depth of its roots and ability to withstand the worst of the storms. A tree that has seen the worst of the storms and has not adapted itself enough to guard against storms that are yet to come, will be a victim. It does not only become the victim of the storms but of its own inability to develop resiliency to weather future storms. A tree that has no experience with the storms should also not wait until the next storm comes and blame its victimhood on inexperience when it had the opportunity to learn from the natural interconnectedness of the underground world.

Human life can as well be compared to that of a tree. The character of the person is tested by the principles and values, which they live by. Just as a tree with shallow roots and a building without a foundation can be easily washed away by storms and floods, so is the person without a strong foundation to stand on when challenges befall them.

 Although we all have every opportunity to learn from many events of life, both massive and trivial, it so happens that one may still be caught unprepared when the next one comes. In today’s times, this is more common as we have become a snowflake generation whose emphasis is on our emotions to be pampered. This has created a generation whose conditioning is more on an individual self-importance even if it may lead to the destruction of the whole.

 At this juncture and moment of our life, there is no doubt that we will be facing times that past generations may have never seen. Although the challenges may be different, to the human psyche, the hardships and the traumas are likely to be the same. That is why it is important to mention this fact to be prepared and know probably one of our biggest predicaments. This will help us not only to develop the mental fortitude and bravery required if we are to survive, but also to be prepared to forego the cosy and comfortable disposition.

As much as fear is natural, it shall never be our resolve or resort. We must rather see it as a reminder for us to finally awake, not only from the slumber of ignorance but even more to realise potent power. Potent power not only to withstand the blazing flames but to also awaken the dormant human spirit that has forever fought for the assurance of the future for its offspring. This may also mean the revival of our ancestry and nature’s way, and back to whom we truly were before the world got us fooled and spooked. Whatever may come, one thing is for sure, we shall survive – be it in this worldly vehicle of a body or in spirit by any means necessary.
