OLUKUPA – Olukupa Clinic in the Oshikoto region is now open to the public on a fulltime basis, the directorate of health and social services in the region has announced.

The head of the directorate, Joshua Nghipangelwa, told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday the clinic, situated in Olukupa village in Oshikoto’s Nehale lya Mpingana constituency, was officially opened on 1 April 2024, and has a staff complement of three nurses.

Previously, people living in the area relied on outreach services provided by the directorate.

“The clinic caters for more than 10 villages of around 3 500 people,” Nghipangelwa said adding that the directorate had also installed two water tanks with a capacity of 10 000 litres each.

However, there are still some challenges such as access for directorate staff to the clinic due to poor roads.

He said it takes staff more than three hours to drive from the B1 road to Olukupa, some 45 kilometres away.
