Crunch time ahead of Brave 5’s last match

Senior national Futsal team, 'Brave Fives', is gearing up to take on third-ranked Libya in the final group match of the 2024 Total Energies Confederation of African Football (Caf) Futsal Afcon competition in Morocco tonight.

Despite a disappointing run so far, with losses against 12th-ranked Mauritania [5-4] and second-best-ranked Egypt [10-3], Namibia finds itself at the bottom of group B.

Egypt leads the group with two victories, followed by Mauritania and Libya, each with a win and a loss from their two matches.

Namibian coach Ryan Jago attributed the team’s lacklustre acknowledgement to performance anxiety in their camp.

“We need time to reflect on our performance. We all make mistakes. We played the best team; we could have been more clinical. In the second half, we crumbled. It’s a hard lesson. We try to dust ourselves off and go again,” the disappointed Jago said.

With minimal chances of advancing to the next round, the team faces a tough but essential lesson, striving to re-group and deliver a stronger performance in the crucial last match.

The tournament serves as a Caf qualifier for the Fifa Futsal World Cup, scheduled for October in Uzbekistan.
