OMUTHIYA - A 13-year-old girl from Omuthiya in the Oshikoto region is at an advanced stage of pregnancy after a 21-year-old man allegedly raped her.

A crime update issued on Saturday by the Namibian Police Force’s Oshikoto commander Teopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku states that it is alleged that the suspect invited the victim to his sleeping room at his residence, and had sexual intercourse with the minor under coercive circumstances between May 2023 and November 2023.

The 39-year-old biological mother of the victim reported the incident to the police.

The victim, who is a Grade 6 learner residing in one of the surrounding villages of Omuthiya, is at an advanced stage of pregnancy.

The suspect is yet to be arrested. The investigation continues, the police said. - Nampa
