LET’S continue what I started about a month ago by sharing a personal playlist of Namibian music. This is something I will do every month.

I am a music-loving Namibian. I am allowed a personal opinion. So, please understand that these songs are on my personal playlist. These are songs I play in my personal setting. No agenda whatsoever. Just a pure feel for music.
I will start with a brand-new artist from the Ohangwena region. I discovered Latoya Stella on Tik Tok. Her song ‘Go’ is refreshing AF* at a time when everyone wants to sound South African. She is refreshingly authentic, but notwithstanding that, the song has a vibe. Dammit…She is a vibe!
You know who else is a vibe? Shaiyah!
I admit…I have been snoring on Shaiyah. No day passes without blasting ‘Toxic’. Everything about the song screams AFRICA. No, no, no, allow me to correct myself…everything about that song screams WORLD! Also…is it just me, or is she like a new school Oteya? No disrespect intended with this comparison. But no amount of wokeness will kill the reality of comparing artists in the world of music. It’s been there since the beginning of time, and it will continue long after we are gone. It’s just exciting AF*. My neighbours probably know the lyrics to “Toxic” word for word…lol!
My love for Kwaito is quenched by Exit’s ‘All night long’. The song features his long-time music friends Neslow and D Kandjafa. The beat is amazing, Neslow is…well, Neslow. We know he rarely disappoints.
However, I feel D Kandjafa could’ve done better with his influence on the song. But the song overall is good enough to look past D Kandjafa’s average contribution. After all these years…Exit still has it! I’ll give ‘The flood’ an honourable mention. The song features DJ Vuyo and Mabuzza.
I’ll move along to Emmanuel Rose. I haven’t vibed to E Rose’s music in a while. As a matter of fact, the last time E Rose was on my personal playlist was with ‘Self Talk’. Matter of fact…it’s still on my playlist.
However, I’ve officially added ‘What kind?’ to my playlist.
That arrogance, that silverback beat your chest type of vibe. Another song that has that vibe that has been annoying the F* outta my neighbours is Phatboy Lutor’s ‘Andiya/Work’. The beat, the flow, the visuals. Again…silverback beat your chest type of vibe. Shout out to Nostal6ia as well.
