Kautanevali relishes role as judge in Top Model Zambia

BEAUTY queen Martha Kautanevali recently participated at the Top Model of the World event in Zambia as a judge, and garnered attention for her impactful involvement. As a guest judge, she demonstrated her dedication to empowering youth and advocating positive societal change.

Utilising her platform as Miss Earth Namibia, Kautanevali actively promoted sustainability within the fashion industry, emphasising the importance of eco-conscious practices. Her presence at the event highlighted the intersection of fashion and environmental responsibility.

“I was honoured to be patron of the heartfelt donation of assorted medical supplies at the University Teaching Hospital UTH Accidents and Emergency department by Mumba Children’s Project Ambassadors together with Top Model of the world Zambia @mwamulimakunda_ace_model and the incredible 2024 finalists,” she said.

She added that one standout moment from the event was witnessing the enthusiasm and receptiveness of participants and attendees towards integrating environmental awareness into the world of modelling and fashion. This highlighted the growing recognition of the industry’s impact on the environment and the willingness to embrace change towards more sustainable practices.

Kataunevali is Miss Earth Namibia 2023 and the second Miss Namibia runner-up last year. She took part in the Miss Earth 2023 pageant in Vietnam among 86 contestants battling it out for the crown.

International events like the Top Model Intercontinental serve as powerful platforms to amplify messages of environmental conservation due to their widespread reach and influence. In the future, she plans to leverage such opportunities by actively advocating eco-friendly initiatives, promoting sustainable fashion choices, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive positive change.

“As a judge, I considered various criteria when evaluating contestants, including their modelling abilities, stage presence, and overall performance. Additionally, I assessed their commitment to environmental causes by observing their awareness, actions, and advocacy efforts towards sustainability both on and off the runway,” she stated.

Kataunevali envisions a future where beauty pageants, fashion events, and environmental activism converge to promote sustainability within the global modelling industry. To achieve this, steps should be taken to encourage eco-friendly practices, educate stakeholders on the importance of environmental conservation, foster partnerships between industry players and environmental organizations, and support initiatives that prioritize sustainability and social responsibility.
