The Namibia National Students Organisation (Nanso) members in the Kavango-east region donated assorted items worth N$2 000 to Marembo Charity Foundation on Saturday.
The Marembo Charity Foundation is a non-governmental organisation, focusing on the wellbeing of orphans and vulnerable children, as well as community development initiatives in informal settlements.
The foundation will identify underprivileged children in different parts of the region to benefit from the donations that include clothing items, sanitary products and stationery. Mushongo Eustabuis of Nanso said the decision to assist less privileged children was arrived at after establishing that poverty is deep rooted in the area. “Most of the donated items were given to us by good Samaritans, and we would like to thank everyone who has helped us reach out to the communities. We identified Marembo Charity Foundation to do the distribution because they have always been at the forefront of charity projects and helping the needy in the region,” he said, adding that the time has come for the youth to get involved in charity work.
Speaking at the ceremony, founder of Marembo Foundation and philanthropist Marembo Marembo said they will continue to cultivate the communities.
“We are honoured and grateful to Nanso for acknowledging us and stretching a helping hand towards our cause. With great assistance like this one, we will help build better communities for our children,” he said, further urging other organisations within the region to also contribute towards the needy.
The foundation is yet to establish the beneficiaries of the donations, however, Marembo mentioned that
they hope to look into the San communities within the region. - email@example.com
