Netball Premier League heads to Divundu

The MTC Namibian Netball (NN) Premier League is set to make history by bringing the top-flight game to Divundu for the first time.

Eliana Seibes, the league coordinator, announced that this will be the home ground for Eastern Chiefs, one of the four clubs recently promoted to the league.

“Our aim is to grow the sport and bring it closer to the supporters in Divundu,” she said.

In conjunction with the matches, Netball Namibia will be offering free training for bench officials over the weekend. “This training will equip the officials with essential knowledge and skills,” Seibes added.

Namibia Correctional Services leads the league with 18 points from nine matches but will not be playing this weekend. The Namibian Navy, in second place with 16 points from eight matches, and Afrocat, in third with 12 points from 10 matches, will both be in action.

Coach Vallery Xarages of the Namibian Navy expressed excitement for the upcoming games. “Our aim is to collect two points this weekend,” she said.

Rounds 15 and 16 will be played at the Rukonga Vision School in Divundu, with the weekend promising thrilling matches and significant opportunities for the local community to engage with top-tier netball action.
