ONGWEDIVA – A 33-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Oshana after he allegedly slapped another man to death on Friday.
“The suspect assaulted the deceased with an open hand,” said Oshana police spokesperson Tomas Aiyambo.
The alleged incident happened at cuca shops at Oshipya village in Oshana on Friday.
The suspect is expected to appear in Oshakati court this week.
Police in Oshana have also opened a case of stock theft against unknown suspects after five cattle skins were discovered at a cattle post in the Uukwiyu-Uushona constituency.
According to Aiyambo, the complainant told the police that the cattle were slaughtered on Saturday evening.
The cattle were allegedly driven from the grazing area to an unused kraal, where they were slaughtered.
“The meat was allegedly taken away with a vehicle; only the skins were found at the scene,” said Aiyambo.
Aiyambo warns those in the meat selling industry to always be in possession of all required documents and identification of such livestock.
“If found with meat without the necessary documents, a case will be opened against the owner as per the stock theft case,” warned Aiyambo.
The police opened a case of inquest after an eight-year-old boy drowned in the NamWater canal in Ompumbu in Oshakati on Friday.
The boy was allegedly swimming with two other boys from Oshikango location.
