Our supporters will not run away – Kangumba… as Life Fighters drop to first division

Chairperson of the Life Fighters supporter’s club Moses Kangumba said their fans will not run away.

This follows the club’s relegation from the Debmarine Namibia Premier League, as they only managed to secure 20 points and are, as a result, languishing at the bottom of the log.

“This is our team through thick and thin, and we will come back to premier football. We have been in this situation before, and we will bounce back,” Kangumba said.

He further applauded the supporters for their tireless efforts in their campaign and urged them to continue helping the club to return to top-flight football.

“We know the battle in the First Division league, but we will emerge victorious no matter the circumstances,” added Kangumba.

The club’s commercial manager, Terry Ujamba, shared Kangumba’s sentiments in an interview with New Era Sport, adding that he did not foresee a day like this would come.

On the summary of their stay in the league, Ujamba said it was an honour and learning curve for all the directors, as most of them are rookies in the management setup.

He added that the first leg of any season is very important.

“We could have collected points in the first leg because it was tough to get points in the second round,” explained the commercial manager.

Ujamba further shared that their demise was because they were complacent and lacked aggression, unlike the 2022/23 season.

The team, better known as Kahirona, hopes to keep 80% of its players and see what the future holds in the first division.

“Points need to be collected in the first six games for a strong comeback. We want to serve as a case for all other relegated teams. It is not the end but a greater beginning,” he stated.

Asked about the possible changes from the technical team, Ujamba said the discussions are ongoing and announcements will be made in due course.

The club meeting is expected to take place after the last premiere league match next weekend.  -zngaruka@yahoo.com
