Pensioner arrested for stealing six donkeys

NKURENKURU - A 60-year-old man was recently nabbed by the police in Kavango West for allegedly stealing six donkeys while they were grazing at Maporeza village, loading them and driving through Hema village to Rundu.

The pensioner is due to appear in court today, where he will face six counts of stock theft. 

The pensioner, whose identity is known but cannot be revealed before he appears in court, allegedly stole the donkeys on Wednesday at an unknown time at the Kavango West village.

“It is alleged that a 60-year-old suspect stole the donkeys with a total value of N$12 400. The donkeys were recovered. The suspect was arrested and will appear on Monday, 20 September 2021 in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court,” the Namibian Police’s report read. 

In a different case, the police in Nkurenkuru arrested two suspects for housebreaking with the intent to steal and theft on Saturday at about 03h00 at residential flats there. 

“It is alleged that two suspects shifted the window, gained entry and took the complainant’s iPhone 8 without his consent. It is valued at N$8 000, and the cell phone was recovered,” said the police in a statement. The two suspects will also appear in court today.
