The Namibian U/20 national rugby team is scheduled to face host Zimbabwe today in a Barthés Trophy match at the Old Georgians Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe.

This marks Namibia’s second match in the tournament, following a 34-28 loss to Kenya in their opener on Saturday.

With a strong historical record, Namibia has claimed the title seven times consecutively from 2012 to 2018 but faces the challenge of rebuilding for podium contention after recent finishes of third place in 2023 and runner-up in 2022. 

In their opening match on Saturday, Zimbabwe started their campaign strong with a 46-21 victory over Tunisia. 

Today’s match-ups also include Kenya against Tunisia. 

The Barthés Trophy, organised by Rugby Africa, is an annual competition featuring national U/20 teams from Africa, with the champion traditionally earning
a spot in the U/20 Rugby World Cup, slated for Scotland later this year.

The Barthés tournament, will continue until 29 April.
