KATIMA MULILO – The Namibian police in Zambezi region this week commemorated the Police Day in the region, which is usually held on 26 November. 
The residents of the town were treated to a parade that saw members of the police force marching through town to the regional police headquarters.

Zambezi police chief Commissioner Marius Katamila, who read the speech on behalf of Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga, the Police Day signifies the important role that the police has been playing over the years. “As we celebrate this important day in the history of the Namibian Police Force and the country in general, I would like to remind all men and women in uniform, as well as our support staff in civilian, of the challenging task of maintaining law and order, preserving internal security, peace and stability of our people,” he said. 

“You must desist at all times from active political participants – be it in the workplace, social media, or any other public platforms and gatherings. You are expected to serve the public impartially and without fear or favour.” The day also saw the promotion of 105 police force members in the region. 
 “They have been recognised for their hard work and their resilience,” said Katamila.
