GIPF launches edutainment series

The Government Institutions Pension Fund launched six episodes of the series called ‘Our Family Ties’.

The pension fund’s spokesperson, Edwin Tjiramba, said the telenovela narrates the GIPF story and the benefits they offer.

Episodes from season one will be released weekly on Sunday evenings on NBC TV from 24 March to 28 April, and simultaneously posted on the fund’s YouTube page.

The first season consists of six episodes, each no longer than 10 minutes.

“As I speak, we are already in production. This is just telling people stories of those who have retired and the challenges they face during retirement,” said Tjiramba.

He added that, with the educational series, they aim to educate their members to know their benefits and understand the processes they have to follow to claim their benefits.

The fund’s CEO Martin Inkumbi stated that the launch of this premiere production of ‘Our Family Ties’ is something the institution is excited to be sharing with the Namibian nation.

Inkumbi said as a member of a centric fund, they take pride in proactively communicating with their stakeholders. In this process, they have become creative in how they share news and information.

“You will agree that our country is blessed with an abundance of talent and tonight, the fund is pleased to showcase how we partnered with the local film industry. By so doing, we uplift the local artists and our film industry and share our story with you all, indeed a win-win recipe for all,” he said.

Penda Ithindi the fund’s chairperson of the board of trustees said ‘Our Family Ties’ is GIPF’s new edutainment television series produced to share the fund
stories.

“We intend to produce follow-up seasons of ‘Our Family Ties’ of which the first season consists of six episodes all of which are under 10 minutes,” he said.

He said the episodes are tailor-made to discuss GIPF benefits through day-to-day scenarios on topics of interest such as normal retirement, early retirement, resignation/dismissal, retrenchment, disability benefits, ill-health retirement, death benefits, and funeral benefits.

“The GIPF cannot take all the credit for this world-class production as the fund made use of industry experts to bring these stories to life and your living rooms. It is at this juncture that I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the impeccable work of the production crew and cast who are all in our midst tonight, job well done,” he said. -priscillamukokobi@gmail.com
